API key not working? Common fixes

Fix common API key errors including invalid key, permission denied, and IP restrictions.

API Key Troubleshooting


"Invalid API key" error

  • Check for spaces: Make sure you didn't copy extra whitespace
  • Expired key: Some exchanges expire API keys — create a new one
  • Wrong exchange: Verify you selected the correct exchange in settings

    • "Permission denied" error

    Your API key doesn't have the right permissions:

  • Go to your exchange's API management
  • Edit your key's permissions
  • Enable Read and Trade/Order
  • Save and wait a few minutes for changes to propagate

    • "IP restriction" error

    If your key is IP-restricted:

  • Remove IP restrictions for easiest setup
  • Or contact support for our server IP addresses to whitelist

    • Key works but bot isn't trading

    If your key validates but no trades happen:

  • Check that your bot is enabled in Settings → Bot
  • Verify you have sufficient balance on the exchange
  • Ensure your budget is set and not exhausted
  • Check the Notifications bell for any error details

    • Re-saving your key

    If issues persist:

  • Delete the current key in Settings → API Keys
  • Create a brand new key on your exchange
  • Add it fresh to Tradion
    • apikeyerrorinvalidpermissioniptroubleshooting
