How to use backtesting

Test your DCA strategy against historical data before going live.

Backtesting

Backtesting lets you simulate your bot's strategy using historical market data. Available on the Expert plan.

Running a backtest

  • Go to the Backtesting page
  • Select the asset(s) to test
  • Choose the time period (e.g., last 30 days, 90 days)
  • Configure DCA parameters (budget, levels, etc.)
  • Click Run Backtest

  • Understanding results

  • Total P&L: Net profit or loss for the simulated period
  • Win rate: Percentage of profitable trade cycles
  • Max drawdown: Largest peak-to-trough decline
  • Trade count: Number of simulated trades

  • Tips

  • Test with the same settings you plan to use live
  • Try different time periods — a strategy that works in a bull market may not work in a bear market
  • Use backtesting results as guidance, not guarantees — past performance doesn't predict future results

  • Limitations

  • Backtesting assumes perfect order fills (no slippage)
  • Doesn't account for exchange fees beyond estimates
  • Historical data may have gaps for newer assets
